Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What are video gaming terminals?

Video gaming terminals (VGTs) are very similar to low-stakes slot machines. Each terminal is a stand-alone device that allows for monitoring of game play. They have entertaining themes and are in cabinets similar to slot machines. Pennsylvania truck stops can each host up to five machines, and the establishment serves the players. Venture Gaming provides the VGTs, cash to pay players, and manages your licenses and paperwork. The VGTs at each establishment are taxed by the Commonwealth and regulated by the PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

All gaming equipment will be owned and operated by Venture Gaming employees and all Established will have their equipment installed by a Gaming Certified Technician.

How does the VGT Operator/Establishment process work?

Venture Gaming will guide you through the entire process of becoming a licensed VGT operator. Your establishment will require a license from the PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB), and we will aid in securing that license for you. Venture Gaming pays for the VGT machines, the redemption terminals and provides you with cash to pay players. You will be paid your share by Venture Gaming. We will also take care of the Commonwealth’s portion of the VGT revenue. Venture Gaming will also assist with your staff VGT training, and keep your establishment in full compliance.

What is the criteria to become a VGT Operator/Establishment?

Up to 5 VGTs can be located in PA truck stop establishments that meet the following criteria:

  • Are equipped with diesel islands used for fueling commercial motor vehicles.
  • Have sold on average 50,000 gallons of diesel or biodiesel fuel each month for the previous 12 months or are projected to sell an average of 50,000 gallons of diesel or biodiesel fuel each month for the next 12 months.
  • Have at least 20 parking spaces dedicated for commercial motor vehicles.
  • Have a convenience store.
  • Are a PA Lottery Sales Agent.
  • Are situated on a parcel of land of not less than three acres.
How do I get started?

Call Venture Gaming today at 724-333-4055 and we will schedule a free consultation to determine if you meet the requirements to become a VGT Operator/Establishment. Once eligibility is confirmed, Venture Gaming will handle all of the paperwork required by the PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB), assist with permitting issues and the full application process.

Who will handle the PGCB paperwork and yearly renewal applications?

Venture Gaming will assist in all PGCG paperwork for initial licensing and all future renewals. We can ensure your license application is done correctly the first time, and keep track of and handle all of your future application updates. This gives you and your staff more time to focus on your customers.

How long will the process take?

Once your location is approved, Venture Gaming can install machines right away. Approval requires the Commonwealth to license your location, which can take time. However, Venture Gaming can assist in preparation of your application materials to help reduce the time of this process.

What are the approximate sizes of the machines?

Give us a call to get an idea of the current terminal machine footprints, but estimate about three square feet per machine to give your customers a comfortable playing environment.

What currency will the VGTs use?

Venture Gaming VGTs will accept all US currency and pay out in tickets. The tickets can be re-inserted back in the machine for more play, or redeemed for cash at a stand-alone redemption terminal that we install in your establishment.

Do the retail licensees insure the machines?

Yes. The VGT owner is “additionally insured” under your business policy. Venture Gaming also carries insurance on the machines and through our company.

How does Venture Gaming handle site set-up and maintenance/service issues?

Venture Gaming is a full-service company. We will set up your VGTs and ensure your gaming area is functioning correctly and is compliant with Commonwealth laws. Let Venture Gaming worry about the gaming area, machines and prizes so you can continue to focus on your customers.
